INGREDIENTS
- 1 lb flank steak, cut into bite size pieces
- 1⁄4 cup corn starch
- 2 tsp olive oil
- 1 tbsp garlic, minced
- 1⁄2 cup soy sauce
- 1⁄2 cup water
- 1⁄4 cup brown sugar, or to taste
- 1⁄2 tsp fresh ginger root, minced
- 1⁄2 cup hoisin sauce
- 2 tbsp asian chili sauce, or to taste (optional)
- 1 onion, thinly sliced
- 3 large green onion, sliced diagonally into 1/2 inch pieces
DIRECTIONS
- Place flank steak and corn starch in a resealable plastic bag. Close the bag and shake to evenly coat the flank steak. Allow to rest for 10 minutes.
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium high heat. Cook and stir flank steak until evenly browned, 2 to 4 minutes. Place in a slow cooker with garlic, soy sauce, water, brown sugar, ginger, hoisin sauce, and chili sauce, if using. Cover and cook on Low for 2 hours. Add onion and green onion and cook for 2 more hours.
