GET SPARKLING CLEAN DISHES EVERY TIME YOU USE YOUR DISHWASHER WITH THESE CLEVER TRICKS

Just because you put your dirty dishes in the dishwasher doesn’t necessarily mean they’re going to come out clean. Let’s face it, dishwashers can sometimes have a mind of their own. To get your dishwasher to do its job and present you with sparkling dishes at the end of every wash cycle, try these clever tricks! With a these few adjustments, you’ll never have to do the dreaded re-wash again.

This newest Clean My Space video goes over some dishwasher diasters…which I’m sure more than a few of us have experienced in the past. Melissa is going to talk us through why each diaster occurs and how we can fix the situation.

GRITTY DISHES

Do you ever pull your plates out of the dishwasher and feel that they’re incredibly gritty? Meaning that they feel bumpy and rough on the surface?

Your dishes feel this way because the bottom of your dishwasher is dirty. This is the result of a filter which is clogged with dirt and grime, which is then recycled back onto your dishes…gross, we know.

This is a quick fix! Take out your filter on the bottom of your dishwasher and let it soak for an hour in a sink filled with hot, soapy water. Then scrub it clean with a nylon bristle brush. After you put the filter back in, give the whole bottom of your dishwasher a wipe down to finish.

SMELLY DISHWASHER

Dishwasher don’t clean themselves. In fact, while cleaning other things, they tend to get dirtier and smellier. If your dishwasher has acquired a funky smell, you need only try this little trick.

Start by pouring some baking soda on the bottom of your dishwasher. Let it sit overnight. In the morning, fill up a cup of vinegar and put it on the top rack of the washer. Run a normal cycle – the vinegar and baking soda combined will do wonders to deodorize and clean your washer!

FLOODED DISHWASHER

How exciting is it when you buy a cool looking sauce jar that you get to reuse? It’s a great feeling. But our downfall in flooding our dishwashers often lies in our new found jars – we sometimes put the jars into the dishwasher to clean WITH THE LABEL STILL ON. The paper then comes off, clogs the filter, and floods the dishwasher.

To avoid this and still get your jar, soak the jar in hot, soapy water before you wash it. This will loosen up the label so you can peel it off before you wash it. Problem solved.

SPOTTED GLASSWARE

Ever pull out your wine glass only to find them streaked and spotted? Been there. This is happening because hard water is spotting your glassware, and a normal dishwasher cycle can’t fix that.

Instead, fill your detergent reservoir with white vinegar to clean your glasses. White vinegar breaks down spots left by hard water and will leave your glassware spotless.
