Air Fryer Mushrooms

These tasty and simple Air Fryer mushrooms make a wonderful side dish. They’re so quick to make and require basic ingredients.

I’m a big fan of mushrooms, and we almost never run out as we’re always stocked up on either small white button mushrooms or chestnut mushrooms. There are so many things that you can do with mushrooms, but here’s a recipe that I’ve been recently obsessed about.

These simple rosemary and soy mushrooms are perfect to go on toasted bread with avocado, or to be served as a part of a buddha bowl, or just as a side dish with any meal.

Air Fried Mushrooms Ingredients

To make these mushrooms you will need:

  • Mushrooms – use white button mushrooms or chestnut mushrooms.
  • Vegetable oil – I used canola oil.
  • Soy sauce – I always use reduced-sodium soy sauce or tamari sauce.
  • Rosemary.
  • Salt and pepper.

How To Cook Mushrooms In An Air Fryer?

Cut the mushrooms into thick slices, I usually cut each into 2 halves but if it’s too big then I cut into smaller pieces. Try to make the size of the slices even so everything cooks evenly.

In a white bowl, toss the mushrooms with the rest of the ingredients so everything is well coated in soy, oil, and seasonings.

No need to preheat the Air Fryer. Place the mushrooms directly into the Air Fryer basket, and cook at 356f (180) for about 15 minutes flipping halfway through.

Open the Air Fryer basket and check every 5 minutes, shake the basket and decide how much longer you would like to cook the mushrooms for.

The mushrooms should be cooked well, but not dried out or burnt. So make sure not to overcook them.

Serve with some extra sea salt flakes, a squeeze of fresh lemon juice, and red chili flakes if desired.

Success Tips

  • When slicing the mushrooms, try and slice into even sized slices so that the mushrooms are cooked evenly.
  • You can substitute soy sauce with tamari sauce if gluten-free, or Worcestershire sauce.
  • Use any kind of vegetable oil that you have on hand.
  • Do not overcrowd the Air Fryer basket as the mushrooms will “steam” instead of roast.
  • The cooking time depends on the Air Fryer size that you’re using. This is a 4.2 liter Air Fryer (used in this recipe), and 15 minutes were perfect. But keep an eye on your mushrooms as you cook them.
  • Use your favorite seasonings to season the mushrooms.
