When my grandma was spending her last days in a nursing home, my family would of course try to make sure she was as happy, comfortable, and well looked after as possible.
Luckily, the facility where she was staying was filled with such amazing staff members that we didn’t have to worry too much. It’s always tough to see a loved one nearing the end of their lives, and at times they are ignored when the reality becomes too painful for some.
That’s why it’s so essential for neighbors to offer support, regardless of whether or not they happen to know someone in one of their town’s nursing homes or assisted living communities.
Of course the one thing that means the most to those folks: Getting the chance to spend time together. It’s one thing to donate a few of the items below, but it would make it even sweeter if they were able to make a new friend at the same time.
Take a look and let us know in the comments if we missed any other simple things you know people in nursing homes need to have donated.
